{"id":1393,"date":"2023-02-08T01:23:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-08T01:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hihotest2.co.nz\/sealord\/?p=1393"},"modified":"2025-04-22T02:43:33","modified_gmt":"2025-04-22T02:43:33","slug":"new-chair-for-sealord-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hihotest2.co.nz\/sealord\/2023\/02\/08\/new-chair-for-sealord-board\/","title":{"rendered":"New Chair for Sealord Board"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\"><div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Media Release<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Sealord Group Limited has announced that Jamie Tuuta has been selected as the company\u2019s new Board chair from 1 April 2023, replacing current Sealord chairman Whaimutu Dewes when he retires from the Board on 31 March.<\/p>\n\n<p>Whaimutu, of Ng\u0101ti Porou and Ngati Rangitihi descent, is a former chair of Moana New Zealand and served as deputy chair of Sealord from 1992 to 2008. He has served in a number of seafood related roles, including the first 10 years on the Treaty of Waitangi Fisheries Commission and has been chair of Sealord since 2016.<\/p>\n\n<p>Moana Board chair and Sealord director Rachel Taulelei says the Board would like to acknowledge Whaimutu\u2019s more than thirty years of service to Sealord and the wider Iwi fisheries sector.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cWhaimutu is part of the bedrock of M\u0101ori fisheries and has provided unquestionably strong guidance, leadership, and commercial acumen during his time in fisheries governance. Currently chair of Maori Television and Tourism New Zealand and a director of Moana New Zealand and a number of other boards, Jamie is committed to the broader iwi commercial landscape and is passionate about iwi success in the fisheries space.
